Digitalisation for Businesses and Public Institutions: First EDIH of Moldova Conference Held in Chișinău
Around 200 people interested in digitalisation attended the EDIH of Moldova Conference 2026 – Digitalisation for Businesses and Public Institutions on Tuesday, 27 October. The event was organised by EDIH of Moldova, the first and currently the only European Digital Innovation Hub in the Republic of Moldova.
Hosted by the Technical University of Moldova, the conference brought together representatives of the business community, public administration, academia, and the European innovation ecosystem. It gave participants access to expertise, practical digitalisation solutions, and opportunities for cooperation, with the aim of turning ideas into tangible results for businesses and public institutions.
At the opening of the event, Ion Bodrug, Coordinator of EDIH of Moldova and President of ACETI, reviewed the journey of the first European Digital Innovation Hub in the Republic of Moldova. He thanked international partners, the Government of the Republic of Moldova, and consortium members for their support and efforts in developing EDIH of Moldova as a single point of access to expertise and services for organisations seeking to advance their digitalisation.
Messages of welcome and support for the hub’s work were also delivered by representatives of government institutions and international partners: Natalia Selevestru, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation; Mihaela Lafont, Programme/Policy Officer at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT); and Niclas Rüffer, Project Director of DT4SME at GIZ.
During the first part of the day, participants learned more about the role of EDIH of Moldova in the country’s digital transformation and the services delivered through its consortium. Invited entrepreneurs also presented innovative solutions and practical experiences, both on the main stage and in the EXPO area, demonstrating how digital technologies can address real-world needs.
The second part of the conference focused on practical workshops covering key areas of digital transformation: ecosystem development and networking, testing solutions before investing (Test Before Invest), digital skills, cybersecurity, and access to finance. The sessions gave participants the opportunity to explore tools, discuss specific challenges, and identify next steps for developing their own digitalisation projects.
The conference demonstrated that digital transformation involves more than adopting new technologies. It also requires expertise, skills, cooperation, and solutions tailored to each organisation’s needs. By connecting businesses and public institutions with specialists, partners, and support opportunities, EDIH of Moldova aims to help accelerate this process throughout the country.
Coordinated by ACETI, EDIH of Moldova will continue to facilitate access for organisations across the Republic of Moldova to digital needs assessments, technology testing, skills development, and consultancy for digital transformation projects.
