DIH of Moldova becomes the first European Digital Innovation Hub in the Republic of Moldova
The Digital Innovation Hub of Moldova (DIH of Moldova) consortium has been selected by the European Commission to become the first European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) in the Republic of Moldova.
Following the evaluation process, the DIH of Moldova consortium’s initiative obtained the status of European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH), becoming the first and currently the only EDIH in the Republic of Moldova. This recognition confirms the project’s strategic relevance, operational maturity, and expected impact on the national digital transformation process.
This achievement marks a milestone for the digital ecosystem of the Republic of Moldova, validating the continuous efforts made since 2021 to develop a functional hub aligned with European EDIH standards and tailored to the real needs of SMEs, public institutions, and the research and innovation community. The positive evaluation by the European Commission reaffirms the consortium’s capacity to deliver high-quality digital services and to actively contribute to the European Union’s objectives on digital transformation, innovation, and inclusion.
The “DIH of Moldova” project will be implemented over a period of three years, with a total budget of approximately 2 million euros, funded by the European Commission with co-financing from the Government of the Republic of Moldova. The project is coordinated by the Association for the Development of Electronic Communications and Innovative Technologies (ACETI), acting as the consortium leader.
The core consortium includes:
- Public Association “Digital Innovation Hub of Moldova”
- Technical University of Moldova (UTM)
- Creative Industries Association of Moldova
- Moldcell Foundation
- HYGIA CONSULT
- Startup Moldova Foundation
- INOTEK Foundation
- Public Association “Business InnoHub Support Center”
The long-term success and impact of the initiative are further strengthened by a solid group of affiliated partners who contribute to expanding the services and ensuring the sustainability of the project: the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), the National Agency for Research and Development (ANCD), the Agency for Agricultural Development and Modernization (ADMA), the Employers’ Association of Renewable Energy Producers – ECOENERGETICA, the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Moldova (AFAM), and the MoldCluster Association.
By obtaining the status of European Digital Innovation Hub, DIH of Moldova assumes the role of a national platform for digital transformation, facilitating the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European EDIH Network and offering SMEs and public institutions access to advanced digital services, European expertise, and opportunities for transnational cooperation.
The consortium will provide the four fundamental services of the EDIH model:
- ecosystem development and awareness activities,
- test-before-invest (Test Before Invest),
- digital skills development,
- facilitation of access to financing.
These services will be delivered through a One-Stop Shop, based on digital maturity assessments and personalized pathways for beneficiaries, ensuring integrated, coherent support focused on tangible results.
DIH of Moldova reaffirms its commitment to responsibly leveraging the trust granted by the European Commission and to actively contributing to the modernization of the economy, strengthening institutional capacity, and supporting the sustainable integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European digital ecosystem.
