The second day of the “SMART Technologies for Innovation” Summit, organized by the Association for the Development of Electronic Communications and Innovative Technologies (ACETI) in partnership with the Bălți Municipality, the Employers’ Association of Renewable Energy Producers “ECOEnergetica”, and the Association for Regional Development and European Policies (ADRPE), was dedicated to smart energy, storage, and balancing in modern networks.

The event brought together over 150 participants, including representatives of central and local public authorities, energy companies from the Republic of Moldova, as well as international experts and partners from the energy sector.

Opening the day, Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu emphasized the importance of national policies and strategies for energy transition, highlighting the increasingly significant role of Bălți Municipality in Moldova’s plans to ensure clean, safe, and sustainable energy.

The first panel focused on policies and strategies for integrating energy storage solutions into the National Energy System, exploring development perspectives up to 2030 and the role of cross-border cooperation in network balancing projects.
In the same context, the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) presented funding mechanisms available for sustainable investments, including credit guarantee funds and programs supporting the green transition in business and energy projects.

The second panel addressed balancing and flexibility services in energy systems, with contributions from Moldelectrica, CET-Nord, Termoelectrica, and Energocom. Discussions focused on modern technologies for grid stability, the flexibility of production units, and the role of cogeneration plants in improving national energy efficiency.

The third panel highlighted the integration of renewable sources and energy storage into district heating systems (SACET), the development of smart thermal networks, and CO₂ emission reduction through modern monitoring and reporting technologies, presented by the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Environment.
Participants explored synergies between green energy generation, storage, cogeneration, trigeneration, and integrated energy conversion, through case studies from Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine, showcasing the practical applicability of innovative solutions in a regional context.

By organizing such events, ACETI, in close collaboration with its partners, contributes to strengthening regional and cross-border dialogue, promoting energy innovation, and accelerating the digital and sustainable transformation of Moldova’s economy.

The “SMART Technologies for Innovation” Summit takes place within the ACETI 4 EDIE project, implemented with the support of the Innovate Moldova Program, funded by Sweden.
