The Association for the Development of Electronic Communications and Innovative Technologies (ACETI) held a master class in the framework of the project “Edu – Tech – Agro – North – Agricultural Technology Education for the North”. The event took place on May 15 at the Agroindustrial College in Ungheni with the active participation of the company IFarms (Digital Solutions for Agriculture), specialized in intelligent solutions for digitization of agriculture.
Nearly 40 students and teachers from the institution took the opportunity to attend the presentation of the most innovative solutions for the digitization of agriculture.
Ion Bodrug, President of ACETI, addressed a word of welcome to the participants of the event, thanking them for their openness to innovative technologies, which have quickly become an indispensable part of sustainable agricultural development and positive change in society’s perception of agriculture.
Alexandr Perjan, iFarms representative, presented the iFarms mobile app, which literally allows you to manage a farming business from your pocket. Based on data collected from various sensors, weather stations, insect traps and specialised satellite data, the software provides data and forecasts with recommendations for sowing periods, fertilisation, irrigation, pest control and disease prevention, data on vegetation development and other relevant information to make farm work more efficient and thus increase the efficiency of farming.
The iFarms platform offers its users permanent access to 16 free modules for digitising farmland, as well as 18 premium modules covering all aspects of a healthy farming business.
Young people showed a keen interest in new technologies, downloaded the iFarms app to their phones and tried to practically analyse the state of vegetation and other parameters on some farm plots, receiving recommendations for the necessary work to be carried out for good crop development.
The activity was also welcomed by the management of the educational institution. According to Ghenadie Berdea, deputy director of the Ungheni Agroindustrial College, in recent years there has been a significant increase in students’ interest in agronomy, largely due to innovative technologies that come to make the agricultural sector more efficient.
At the master class, the foundations were also laid for another AgTech club, which will be created at technical vocational schools with an agricultural profile, with the participation of students passionate about technologies.
The project “Edu – Tech – Agro – North – Agricultural Technology Education for the North” is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID Moldova) through the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Project in Moldova (PCRR) and is implemented by ACETI in collaboration with development partners.
