About us

The Digital Innovation Hub of Moldova (DIH of Moldova) is a project created in December 2021 by the Association for the Development of Electronic Communications and Innovative Technologies (ACETI), together with a group of regional, national, and international IT companies. It follows the model of the European Digital Innovation Hub from Romania, facilitating connections between startups, investors, providing access to funding for digital transformation. Simultaneously, it serves as a platform connecting companies in the region with professionals, future specialists, suppliers, and users.

More than 50 participants from several European countries took part on 9 September in the international webinar “IoT Technologies & Solutions for Smart Cities and Energy Management”, organised by ACETI within EDIH of Moldova, together with ICT Cluster Bulgaria, within InnovationAmp EDIH and MetaCities Hub.

The event brought together representatives of companies, innovation organisations, public institutions and the research community from Moldova, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Croatia, Greece, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Ireland, Albania, Kosovo and other countries, with a shared interest in developing and applying smart technologies in urban environments and the energy sector.

The discussions focused on how IoT and IIoT, artificial intelligence, smart metering and connected infrastructure can be applied in practice to improve energy management, develop smart buildings and create better-connected urban environments.

A particular focus was placed on moving from pilot projects to scalable solutions, including challenges related to interoperability, the integration of new technologies with existing infrastructure, and identifying implementation models that are accessible to organisations with limited budgets or experience.

Practical experience from Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova was presented by Angel Angelov, Founder and CEO of Blueberry Software JSC and Founder of VOLTS, and Igor Nisemboim, Director of Marketing and Development at IDomus – intelligent house.

The presentations were followed by an interactive discussion and audience Q&A, covering topics such as smart metering, energy consumption monitoring and optimisation, smart buildings, system interoperability and the role of AI in smart solutions.

An important part of the discussion focused on where organisations with limited resources or experience should start when implementing smart solutions. Participants also explored common mistakes in IoT and smart-city projects, as well as the key arguments that can encourage municipalities, utilities and companies to invest in these technologies.

The webinar also provided an opportunity to identify new areas of cooperation between the innovation ecosystems of the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria, including pilot projects, technology integration, solution distribution, research and development, and future European projects.

For EDIH of Moldova, initiatives of this kind help connect organisations in the Republic of Moldova with European expertise, technologies and innovation networks, facilitating the exchange of experience and the identification of solutions that can be adapted and implemented in the local context.

ACETI will continue to work with its partners across the EDIH Network and the wider European innovation ecosystem to develop initiatives that bring technology, expertise and organisations closer together and create practical opportunities for digital transformation.
