Smart solutions for Balti municipality discussed at a workshop organized by ACETI
The Association for the Development of Electronic Communications and Innovative Technologies (ACETI) organized on Wednesday, June 25, in partnership with the City Hall of Balti, an event dedicated to smart solutions for urban development within the project SCIHubs – Smart City Innovation Hubs, funded by the Interreg Danube Region Programme.
The event, generically called “Workshop of ideas for Smart City” took place in the Tekwill Balti premises and gathered more than 20 participants: representatives of public authorities from Balti, Ungheni and Edinet, experts, entrepreneurs, etc.
ACETI President Ion Bodrug informed the participants about the essence and objectives of the project, which aims to help transform the way cities and regions approach sustainability, efficiency and technology integration, capitalizing on advanced technologies and innovative solutions to facilitate the building of smart urban ecosystems in the region.
Raluca Lucăț, project manager from the Innovation and Technology Cluster Association in Brasov, Romania, welcomed participants to the event and emphasized the importance of defining the challenges municipalities face in identifying solutions to help them secure the necessary funding and become smart cities that are fully appreciated by their inhabitants.
In his turn, Alexandr Petkov, Mayor of Balti, praised the event as an important step for the municipality in the direction of digital transformation and sustainable development.
“I am a staunch supporter of urban development. I am glad and I am sure that this project will be able to bring smart solutions that Balti municipality needs. We want Balti to become an example of a smart, efficient and citizen-oriented city”, said Alexandr Petkov.
The event’s agenda included brainstorming sessions, team work and the presentation of proposed solutions to the municipality’s main challenges.
The municipalities of Edinet and Ungheni, which have benefited from European funding and have successfully implemented important Smart City projects, shared with the workshop participants their experience in capitalizing on such solutions and talked about the benefits that the inhabitants of these cities now enjoy.
Participants heard presentations of smart business solutions (IDomus and Infoera) and discussed how similar solutions can be adapted and applied in Balti. Among the topics discussed were the digitalization of public services, smart urban mobility, energy efficiency, smart parking solutions and community involvement in the development of the city.
The youth of Balti, represented by Tekwill Balti in the person of the manager Pavel Curcovici, came with proposals for an intelligent development of the municipality.
The solutions proposed at the event will contribute to the development of a concrete action plan, focused on the specific needs of the local community, aiming to accelerate the digital transformation of the municipality and improve the quality of life of its inhabitants.
The SCIHubs (Smart City Innovation Hubs) project is supported by the Interreg Danube Region Program, co-funded by the European Union.
