The MIDIA instrument, developed by ACETI to measure the digital intensity of companies, was one of the highlights on the main stage of Startup Moldova Summit 2026. The presentation brought forward a simple yet essential idea: digital transformation begins with a proper assessment.

Companies need to know their real level of digitalization

In his speech, Ion Bodrug highlighted one of the most common challenges faced by businesses: the lack of a clear understanding of their actual level of digitalization.

“MIDIA is the tool that changes the conversation. But before digitalization, we need to know where we stand. MIDIA reveals an incredibly interesting reality: most companies discover they are losing money and opportunities without even realizing it,” he told the audience.

According to the President of ACETI, many companies invest in technologies without a clear strategy, which often leads to wasted resources and results that fall short of expectations. MIDIA provides exactly this missing clarity, turning digitalization into a process based on data and objective evaluation.

A “digital diagnosis” for businesses

Presented as a “digital diagnosis,” the instrument works similarly to a comprehensive medical check-up for a business, evaluating essential dimensions such as technologies in use, internal processes, digital skills, leadership and management, as well as customer experience.

This multidimensional approach allows companies to understand not only where they stand, but also why certain development bottlenecks occur. “It is, in fact, a complete medical analysis of a business,” explained Ion Bodrug, emphasizing the practical and easy-to-understand nature of the instrument.

One of the key messages of the presentation was that MIDIA is not just an analytical tool, but also a practical guide for growth. Companies can use the evaluation results to plan investments, prioritize actions, and make strategic decisions.

In this way, MIDIA transforms digitalization from an abstract concept into a concrete and manageable process. Entrepreneurs can clearly identify strengths and areas that require improvement, reducing the risks associated with technology investments.

Direct interaction with entrepreneurs and growing interest in MIDIA opportunities

During Startup Moldova Summit 2026, participants also had the opportunity to explore the MIDIA instrument in detail in the expo area. At the ACETI stand, the team provided additional information about how the instrument works and the benefits of measuring digital intensity.

Discussions with entrepreneurs focused on the practical steps required to begin the digital transformation process, as well as on the support and funding opportunities available after the evaluation.

This aspect generated visible interest among summit participants, especially regarding the practical value of the instrument and the way it can support applications for funding programs. Thanks to the presentation during the event, many entrepreneurs became aware of the importance of MIDIA as a starting point in preparing applications for grants and support initiatives, highlighting the need for a clear, easy-to-use, and relevant tool for digital transformation.

As a result, MIDIA was perceived as a practical instrument positioned at the intersection of organizational diagnostics and access to funding, capable of supporting both the internal understanding of companies and their integration into broader innovation and digitalization ecosystems.

A step forward for the digitalization of the economy

The presentation of MIDIA at Startup Moldova Summit 2026 reflects the growing interest in practical digitalization solutions in the Republic of Moldova. In a context where business competitiveness increasingly depends on technology adoption, instruments such as MIDIA are becoming essential.

By combining assessment, personalized recommendations, and access to support services, MIDIA is emerging as a key element in accelerating the digital transformation of SMEs and bringing them closer to European models.

The MIDIA instrument was developed within the “Digital Maturity in Innovative Regions” project, implemented with the support of the Swiss Government and Helvetas Moldova through the OPTIM Project.
